Thermal Print Head Foldback Electrode
What is a folded electrode?
A folded electrode is a reciprocating electrode structure as shown in the diagram below, with the heater divided into two parts.
For this reason, the heater pattern pitch is twice the specified value.
Why does Toshiba Hokuto Electronics use folded electrodes?
There are no commons...
- Losses due to common drops are reduced by approximately 10% (compared to our previous model).
- The heater line can be placed close to the edge of the heat sink.
- Common space is eliminated, allowing for smaller substrates.
Since there is a slit in the high temperature part at the center of the heating element, the following effects can be expected.
- The heater temperature is uniform, and the high temperature area in the center is less likely to damage the media.
- The spatial frequency is doubled, reducing the roughness caused by the slits.
